Plan Your Prepping Goals
Do you want to start prepping for just yourself? Your family? How about your whole neighborhood? First step is to plan out what your goals will be and then you’ll know how to approach them. Plan your goals carefully.
Putting Away the Food and Water
Put your plan into action by buying the types of foods that will last. Maybe you are just buying extra groceries every trip to the supermarket. Or maybe you are investing money in foods that will last 20+ years. Whichever way you do it, this is the most critical and exciting step!
“Have you gone CRAZY?” – Reasons Why Everyone Should Be Prepping
The stigma that comes with being a prepper is well known. When the average person envisions someone who’s stocking up on food and water for a disaster, inevitably the images of a long haired old man with fingernails that haven’t been cut in years and sitting alone in a room that can only be described as a hoarders paradise come to mind.
The truth is however, that in this day in age your average “prepper” is middle aged, with a good job, a family, and concerned about the current state of affairs in our world. Businessmen, lawyers, emergency services personnel, and yes now even politicians are starting to prepare. Why should you start prepping?
Why are People Prepping? The Same Reason People Buy Insurance.
Almost every american at some point in their lives buys some sort of insurance policy; auto insurance, life insurance, home insurance etc. People don’t say “Gregg has flood insurance? What a nut-job!” because they understand that shit happens.
That’s what being a Prepper is all about. We put away food and water for the long term in case of the possibility of an earthquake, flood, hurricane, financial collapse, nuclear incident, or the next super pandemic. Why? Cause shit happens! It has before, and it will again.
Start Small – Some Preps are Better than NO Preps
You really don’t need to go online an order a prepackaged 2 year freeze dried food supply for $5,000 to start prepping. Very few of us would want to or even could spend that kind of money.
JUST START SMALL. Next time you go to the supermarket on your normal shopping trip find an item that you buy all the time and maybe buy just a bit more of it. Make sure it’s something with a shelf life of at least a year.
Canned food, beef jerky, powdered drink mix, oatmeal, rice, beans, anything that has an expiration date of at least a year out. We all buy some food like this every time we go to the super market.
Bring this extra food home, find a place where you can put a few things away (a shelf in the garage, a spare kitchen cabinet, a spare closet) and place that item in there.
Next time you go to the super market buy one more extra item. Before you know it, you will have a very nice supply of additional resources for anything that comes along. It could serve you will in a super pandemic, financial collapse, earthquake or hurricane.
