Thinking of spending some money on a solar PV system. While buying this system anyway,... I was thinking to use wet/lithium batteries instead of smart type like Tesla batteries and using solar panels in conjunction with a large separate inverter instead of the individual micro inverters at each solar panel. I have also thought to purchase a spare inverter stored in a faraday cage. In your opinion would this be a better choice in hopes to survive an EMP? I’m spending the same money anyway, trading some technology but perhaps gaining a survival plan.

Not a bad idea for testing a faraday cage! I may have to test this out! Thank you.

Very good points! Thank you so much. Yes, diodes and those other tines components could definitely be problematic.

Many lithium ion 18650 batteries, for example, have protection circuits. These may contain diodes and other components that would fail. You could strip the protection circuits off, but that is tricky :)
The circuits protect against things like over amping (like shorting) and reverse polarity. But, it may be hard to access, but the chemical core of the battery is still probably good.
